What are we doing to help?
As part of our pupil premium grant this year, St. Edmund’s has recognised the importance of homework and some of the difficulties that may come with such a task and has therefore employed a full time teacher to support and assist certain children within our school. The children who are currently receiving this additional support receive quality 1:1 time to discuss any difficulties that they have come across or to simply clarify that that have used the right method, for instance in a numeracy piece of homework.
We are fully aware that some of our parents struggle to help their child with their homework, especially as they graduate further up the school, and the academic expectation of the child increases. Or it may be that a language barrier is preventing effective support if our children and parents are new to our country.
If you feel that you are not able to provide your child with the support that they need or are struggling with a certain aspect of your child’s homework, then please don’t hesitate to contact our school or speak to the class teacher. We are always here to listen and help you as best we can.
